IBEW Sister Meeting

Local 8 Sisters gather
periodically to get to know
each other, discuss volunteer
opportunities in our area and to
talk about the possibility
of traveling together
in the future to find work.

It is an opportunity
to unite with fellow sisters in
the local who may have never
met on the job site.

 The International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers has created a new opportunity for our
younger members

called the RENEW Initiative.

Reach out and Engage Next-gen
Electrical Workers (RENEW)

was established to encourage
younger members to become
more involved with our union
and our Labor Movement.

The committee is for IBEW
aged 35 years
of age and younger.

The RENEW Initiative meets 
on Thursdays, the week in
between union meetings. The
meetings are held at 6 pm.

All Local 8 members are
encouraged to attend.

together monthly to
share a meal, socialize,
play cards and plan
events throughout
the year. 

Meetings are
 typically held on the
second Wednesday
of the month, usually
in the union hall
beginning at noon.

A potluck luncheon
is included and the
meetings sometimes
include guest
speakers, 50/50
raffles and more.

Those attending are
asked to bring their
own table service
and usually a side
dish, salad or dessert
to share. Check

Local 8 Motorcycle Club

The Local 8 Motorcycle Club is open to all members (including indentured apprentices and retirees) who own an American-made motorcycle.

Blood Drive at Local 8

Rossford High School band will host a blood drive
at Local 8 on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from
9-3 pm.

Please do your part and donate the gift of life.


Labor Day Parades Scheduled - Order your t-shirts!

Toledo - The annual Labor Day parade will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018 in downtown Toledo. This year, the Building Trades will be first in line for the parade. Local 8 will be third in the Building Trades line-up. Please plan on being downtown by 8:00 am to pick up your t-shirts and get in line for the 9:00 start. Family events will be held downtown after the parade beginning around 11:30.

After the parade, the annual picnic will be held at the shelter house located behind the Industry Building on
Lime City Rd.

Volunteers are needed downtown on the morning of the parade and afterward at the picnic. If you are interested, please contact Keith Warnimont at 419-936-0147.

Thanks to all those who have volunteered in the past. Local 8 events could not take place without your help.
We appreciate all you do.

Fremont  The Fremont parade will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018. Line-up for the parade will begin
at 9 am on N. Front. St. with the parade beginning at 10 am.

Monroe  The Monroe parade will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at noon. Line up for the parade
will begin at 11 am on Jones Ave. across from Kroger. Festivities will immediately follow the parade
at the corner of Washington and Front Streets in downtown Monroe.

Volunteers are needed to plan the Monroe County Labor Day Parade. Committee meetings will take place
over the next few months. If you are interested, please contact Jason Matthews at 734-363-3216.

The deadline is Friday, August 10.




Summer Picnics Planned

Members of the Adrian Unit will get together on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm for a cookout at the home of Retiree Charlie Condon. Charlie’s home is located at 6541 Hallenbeck Hwy. at Round Lake in Manitou Beach, MI.

Meat will be provided; please bring a side dish to share. Spouses are welcome.

The Defiance Unit will have their annual steak-fry on Friday, August 3 at 6:00 pm at the UAW Hall located at 2120 Baltimore Rd. in Defiance, OH. Meat will be provided; please bring a side dish to share and your beverages. Please call the Business Office at 419-666-8920 to RSVP.

The Fremont Unit will host a picnic on Saturday, August 18 at the Carroll Township Hall located at 11080 W. Toussaint East Rd. in Oak Harbor, OH beginning at 12:30 pm.

The unit will provide the meat; please bring a side dish to share and your beverages. Spouses and children are welcome. Please RSVP by calling the Business Office at 419-666-8920.

The Findlay Unit will have their picnic at the home of Jeremiah Coleman (Bullfrog), 5630 Hall Rd in Fostoria, OH, on Saturday, September 8 beginning at noon.
