The 2025 Bonnie Finzel-Doster Monroe/Lenawee County AFL-CIO Central Labor Council Memorial Scholarship Program
The Monroe/Lenawee County AFL-CIO Central Labor Council (CLC) will be awarding two $1000 scholarships through the Bonnie Finzel-Doster Memorial Scholarship Program again this year. One each will be awarded to a qualified 2025 graduating senior at a Monroe or Lenawee County high school.
Qualification Requirements
Must:
- Be a 2025 graduating senior at a Monroe or Lenawee County high school
- Be the child of a member in good standing of a local union currently affiliated with the CLC
- Have at least a 3.0 (B) grade point average
- Write an essay of 500 words or less on one of the following two topics:1
- ‘How the Union has Benefitted my Family’ or
- ‘What Labor Unions Means to Me’
Other factors that will be taken into consideration include, but are not limited to:
- Current standardized achievement and/or aptitude test scores.
- Student’s involvement in school and community service activities – with emphasis on leadership.
- Two letters of reference from people who can attest to the applicant's character.
Students who have chosen a two- or four-year college, as well as those who plan to gain specific advanced technical and/or vocational training, are eligible to apply. Equal consideration will be given for college or vocational training.
Upon being selected as the recipient of the scholarship, the award will be paid directly to the school account upon verification of enrollment.
